For the launch of the new build Aston Martin Vantage the team at Superunion came to us with a brief distilling the essence of the Vantage as ‘a born predator’. Working with real footage we developed the environments to interact with the car and create atmospheric and tactile worlds.
The Brief.
We were presented with moodboards detailing the essense of the environments Superunion wanted us to place the car in. Each moodboard distilled a behaviour of an animal. Snake coils writhing on themselves, sharks gliding through shoals of fish, tigers fur rising, cobra’s hypnotic glares and pouncing lions.
Each of these moods represented a characteristic of the new Vantages make up and it was our charge to realise these in an abstract and beautiful way.
Our Approach
Building on Superunions creative idea we began the process with an experimental exploration of how to achieve the animalistic intentions in an abstract way. Poring over nature footage and distilling the reference to its simplest form before creating an environment for the car to live in.
Our technical expertise saw us VFX supervise the shoot of the car before integrating this footage into the final films. The car itself was recreated in CG to enable the creation of realistic reflections so the car truly felt embedded in the scenes when composited together.
Speed ramping the camera moves captured on set we created calm moments followed with explosive pieces of action. Combined with an audio bed based in the animal world we captured the distinctively raw and animalistic character of the Aston Martin Vantage.
